Our website was inspired by over fifteen years of collectively learning and instructing Bible studies in small groups. We have dedicated this site and focused our efforts specifically on the four gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. There are many books, websites, and videos in the market that list the comparisons of the four gospels. This site takes it one step further by creating professional bible studies of those specific events the gospels witnessed. These studies can be used in small or large group settings.

We also debated a long time about the cost of running and maintaining this website—two sides to this debate. One side is if you do not charge anyone for the information on the site, they may not feel the information is of any value. The other side is we did not want to hinder spreading nor prevent someone from accessing the Lord’s Word. We are called to be disciples and pass on what we have learned. In the end, we decided no matter where anyone is in their walk with God, money should never be an obstacle in learning His Word. A donation link will be added soon to help cover the cost of maintaining the site and copyrights. The time it takes to research, develop, and create each study is done by our team free of charge.

There are also many versions and translations of the Holy Bible in the marketplace. We also noticed this within our own group. At one time, we had five different versions: KJV, NKJV, NASB, NIV, and NLT. As we grow in our walk with God, so should our seriousness in studying His Word. There are three major categories of Bible translations: Word-for-word, thought-for-thought, and paraphrase.

A word-for-word translation is one that does its best to accurately translate the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek of the original Scriptures. The King James, New King James, New American Standard, and English Standard Version are popular word-for-word translations.

The next is a thought-for-thought translation. Some call these meaning-for-meaning translations. If you are looking for an easy-to-read version of the Bible, thought-for-thought translations are what you are looking for. While they are valuable in putting Scriptures into easy-to-understand wording, they are not the best for doctrinal reliability. At times, these versions often involve some interpretation of what the original writers intended to say. The ones in this group are NIV-New International Version, NLT-New Living Translation, NAB-New American Bible, NRSV-New Revised Standard Version, CSB-Christian Standard Bible, and NCV-New Century Version.

The final category is the paraphrased Bible. The goal of these Bibles is to make the language even easier to understand than thought-for-thought Bibles. A word of warning about paraphrased Bibles; they should never be your go-to for sound Biblical doctrine. Often the authors take incredible poetic license in interpreting their own religious ideas and beliefs into the passages.

The further away from the original language, the less accurate the translations become. It is much easier to read, and the reader gets a more modern-day interpretation. The downside reader has greater flexibility to read into the scripture, what they want to hear rather than what God is specifically trying to get across.

We found that although NIV and NLT are probably the most popular, the deeper in our walk with God we become, the closer to the original translation we should become. Keep in mind; there are words in Aramaic, Hebrew, and Greek languages that do not have a corresponding English word. In these cases, the translators use English words that have the closest meaning. We collectively agreed to use the New King James Version. The King James Version may be considered by some to be the closest to the original, the NKJV provides the closest modern-day version with its vocabulary.

We hope you enjoy your journey. Most importantly, your walk with God. It is not enough to understand and comprehend His, “Word” He is teaching you. He asks us to become disciples and pass on what we have learned. Everyone has their strengths, gifts, and talents. What is yours?
